New iron-making process. Mining Engineering (October 2004) published a study of a new technology for producing carbon high-quality iron nuggets directly from raw iron ore and coal. For one phase of the study, the percentage change in the carbon content of the produced nuggets was measured at 4-hour intervals for 33 consecutive intervals. The data for the 33 time intervals are listed in the table below. Specifications state that the carbon content should be within 3.42 ± 0.3 percent.

- pan's high population density has resulted in a multitude of resource-usage problems. One especially serious difficulty concerns waste removal. An article reported the development of a new compression machine for processing sewage sludge. An important part of the investigation involved relating the moisture content of compressed pellets (y, in %) to the machine's filtration rate (x, in kg-DS/m/hr). Today, that number is about 26,000-a 35% loss. The current annual rate of decline is about 650 trees per year. At this rate, if unchecked, public street trees would diminish to approximately 10,000 within a generation (25 years), and in 40 years, public street trees would no longer be part of the Newton landscape. a-c will be answered in the picture attached a) check the arithmetic that leads to the claimed "35% loss" b) check the arithmetic that leads to a "current annual rate of 650 trees per year". c) check the predictions in the last sentence. are they likely to come to pass? now, using the information in the paragraph and the questions + work shown, answer d) d) write the equation for the linear model implicit in this quotation (use years since 2012 as the independent variable). identify the slope and the intercept, with their units.arrow_forwardIn a sample of 177 adults how long it takes to fall asleep is expected to be related to how much cake is eaten for dessert at .38. The first type of charge is the "customer charge", which is a flat monthly rate (adjusted annually) that each household is charged. A second type of charge is the "transmission service" charge, which reflects how much it costs the electric company to move electricity from the power generating plants to the different substations (before being distributed to the households). A customer's fee for transmission service depends on the amount of electricity used by that individual household. The third type of charge is the "distribution service" charge, which reflects the cost to distribute the electricity from the local substation to the household. The distribution service charge is also based on the amount of electricity used by the individual household. Suppose that AEP charges a monthly fee of $8.40 to each household as its customer…arrow_forward
