Calculations:

Convert initial temperature of ice:

  T1=(14273)°C=259°C

The temperature of ice would rise from 259°C to 0°C . Then the ice would melt. Then the temperature of water would rise from 0°C to 100°C . At 100°C , water would vaporize. Then temperature of steam would rise from 100°C to 140°C .

Heat required to raise the temperature of ice from 259°C to 0°C can be calculated as follows:

Specific heat of ice, ci=2.03J/g°C

  Q1=mciΔT=(87g)(2.03J/g°C)(0°C( 259°C))=45741.9J

Latent heat of fusion of ice, Lf=334J/g

Heat required to melt the ice:
