To Explain: Whether the two cups of water have equal temperature after equilibrium is achieved.

Answer to Problem 68A
No
Explanation of Solution
Given:
Two lead blocks have same temperature.
Block A has twice the mass of block B.
The temperature of water is equal.
Formula Used:
Thermal energy can be obtained by:
Where, m is the mass, c is the specific heat capacity and
Calculation:
For thermal equilibrium:
Heat lost by lead block = heat gained by water
As the thermal energy depends on the mass and also, there is difference in the mass of the two blocks, the two cups of water would not have same temperature after achieving equilibrium.

- Mick and Rick are twins born on Earth in the year 2175. Rick grows up to be an Earth-bound robotics technician while Mick becomes an intergalactic astronaut. Mick leaves the Earth on his first space mission in the year 2200 and travels, according to his clock, for 10 years at a speed of 0.75c. Unfortunately, at this point in his journey, the structure of his ship undergoes mechanical breakdown and the ship explodes.
