Power of heater, P=3×102W

Mass of cup, m1=100g=0.3kg

Mass of water, m2=250g=0.25kg

Temperature of water and cup, T1=15°C

Boiling point of water, T2=100°C

Formula Used:

Specific heat formula,

  Q=m1C1ΔT1+m2C2ΔT2

Here, Q is heat energy, m1 is mass of car, C1 is specific heat of air, and ΔT1 is change in temperature, C2 is specific heat of water, and ΔT2 is change in temperature.

  P=Wt=Qt

Here, Q is heat energy and t is time.

Calculation:

As specific heat of water is C2=4180J/kgK and specific heat of glass is C1=840J/kgK

Substitute the given values to find the value of Q

  Q=0.3×840×(10015)+0.25×4180×(10015)=1.1×105J

Now, find the time using power and Q

  t=QP=1.1×105300=367s
