Question
Chapter 12, Problem 35RA
Summary Introduction
To review:
The following:
Similarity between the contraction of myocardium and a skeletal muscle twitch.
The inability of myocardium to exhibit summation and tetanus.
Introduction:
Cardiac cells or myocardial cells are present only in the heart. They are striated like skeletal muscles and have actin-myosin filaments. They are small in length and are present in branched and connected form. The alternate myocardial cells are joined together by gap junctions or electrical synapse.
