Agrobacterium tumeifaciens is a bacteria that invades some plants at the site of wound. They transform plant cells near the wound and induce them to form a tumor called crown gall. The bacteria contains a plasmid called the Ti plasmid. This plasmid has a segment called the T DNA which is transferred to the plant cell nucleus and is integrated at random position in one of the plants chromosomes during transformation. This represents natural genetic engineering process.
