Communication Strategies
Businesses use many communication strategies and must be innovative enough to change the strategy to change the message based on the audience.
Direct
Communicated in a straight and direct way.
Facts are spoken more directly, and no implications are made.
Reduces audience frustration.
Best used for non-confidential material
Indirect
Best for bad news
Reduces negative reactions from the audience.
Non-verbal cues i.e., body language and tone of voice
Communication Method
In the business world, there are many ways to communicate, it’s just figuring out which method is
appropriate for the situation.
Social Media
Reach new audiences.
Interact with customers.
Increase brand awareness.
Share information.
Email
Convenient and accessible
Economical; no supplies needed.
Large audiences
Formal communication at the workplace.
When to use direct and indirect communication strategies.
A situation where direct communication can be used effectively is. Describe the job roles of employees and to whom they should report. If there is any confusion while communicating these aspects to employees, it can result in decreased productivity. Indirect communication can be used effectively when you are being more restrained. It is effective when giving performance reviews to employees who have comparatively performed low work effectiveness. The feedback can be given more compassionately without being blunt and direct
