Module 1: Comprehension Check Arizona State University SPE 527: Behavior Analytic Assessments 13 January 2024
Baseline Level of Behaviors Addressed in the Plan Based on Assessment Results (VB- MAPP) Oliver exhibits several deficits in social communication and social interaction across multiple contexts. Throughout the VB-MAPP assessment, Oliver did not verbally request or utilize another form of communication (i.e., symbols, signs, PODD, PECS). When Oliver attempts to gain access to an item and is unable to obtain access, he will fall to the floor while crying and screaming until a preferred item is offered. Oliver was unable to demonstrate respondent behavior when the administrator called his name but demonstrated the ability to follow single step commands with visual prompts to complete gross motor skills. At Level 1, Oliver was able to visually perceive and match items with a high score but was unable to demonstrate those skills at Level 2. Throughout the assessment, Oliver demonstrated his ability to make six different sounds, including crying, laughing, screaming, and squealing. He did not demonstrate the ability to produce word approximations but would babble independently, Oliver did not demonstrate echoing the sounds back. Along with deficits in social communication and social interaction, Oliver exhibited restricted, repetitive patterns of behavior, interests, and activities. Oliver engaged in parallel play with his siblings but did demonstrate imitation or initiate play with them. Oliver was unable to demonstrate creative play with common objects but demonstrated required skills in Level 1. Treatment Goals Goal 1 : Encourage Oliver to expand his echoic responding by imitating sounds he has demonstrated independently before.
Topography: Oliver will echo verbal sounds or approximations within three seconds of the delivery of the vocal-SD. Conditions: Oliver and instructor are in a workplace, child is attending to instructor (“eyes on me” or “look”) and reinforcer is readily available. Criterion Level: Oliver will echo 12 out of 15 verbal sounds or approximations within 3 seconds of the vocal-SD across 5 sessions. Goal 2: Encourage Oliver to expand his tacting ability by labeling known items. Topography: Oliver will tact known items or approximations within three seconds of the delivery of the non-verbal and verbal SD. Conditions: Oliver and instructor are in a workplace, child is attending to instructor (“eyes on me” or “look”) and reinforcer is readily available. Criterion Level: Oliver will tact 15 out of 18 known items within 3 seconds of the non-vocal and vocal-SD across 5 sessions.
