Concept Introduction:

Each element tends to make it stable by the formation of chemical bonds with other elements. The formation of such bonds occurs in accordance with rule known as the octet rule. This rule states that elements have the tendency to form bonds in such way that their atoms acquire eight electrons in their valence shells. Due to this, the atom achieves electronic configuration similar to that of stable noble gas. Almost all atoms follow octet rule with some exceptions also.
