Ms. Cara Tan, a 60 year old female vendor, was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of thirty. She states that at first, joints in her wrist and fingers were stiff and sometimes painfully swollen, but would resolve without intervention. She thought that her symptoms were due to her active lifestyle. Over the time, her other joints became involved. Bilateral knees, right ankle and right hand and fingers are painful, reddened and edematous. She claims she has difficulty performing even simple tasks such as combing of hair, brushing of teeth and putting on her gown. The nurse observes Cara’s face is masked with pain. She asked for a walker as she attempts to walk outside of her room.
