Concept explainers
Interpretation:
The definition of “apoptosis.”
Concept introduction:
The body of a multicellular organism consists of highly organized processes. The cell division process is one such process in a multicellular organism by which a cell divides into two, which is important for the growth of the body.
The cell division process occurs in two stages of the cell cycle—interphase and mitotic phase. The interphase consists of three stages, namely, G1, G2, and S phases and it comprises the formation of nutrients, replication of genetic material, and duplication of other cell components, such as centriole.
The whole process is regulated by various factors, signaling molecules, and enzymes. The process is checked for any errors by various mechanisms and cell is programmed for death.
