Explanation of Solution

Given information:

System of equations.

Consider a system of equations

  $\begin{array}{l}{a}_{1}x+b_{1}y=c_1\\ a_{2}x+b_{2}y=c_2\end{array}$

Calculating the $y$ in terms of $x$ or $x$ in terms of $y$ , from any one of the equations and substituting in the another equation gives the value of either $y$ or $x$ .

Then again substituting the obtained value of $x$ or $y$ in any of the equations the other variable value is obtained. This is the procedure followed in the Substitution method of solving the system of equations.
