Introduction:

Enzymes are known as biological catalysts. Like any other catalysts, they function to lower down the activation energy, and thus, increase the rate of the reaction. An enzyme specifically binds to its substrate. The interaction of an enzyme and a substrate can be depicted by two models—the induced fit model and the lock and key mechanisms.
