Concept Introduction:
The ionic compounds are formed by ions bonding together with strong electrostatic interaction due to opposite charge. In general, there are two types of ions: positive metal ions and negative non−metal ions. When a neutral atom gains electron/s, it acquires negative charge and gets converted into anion. Similarly, loss of electron/s from an atom results in the formation of cation.
