Summary Introduction

To examine: Whether the statement “In a replication bubble, the same parental DNA strand serves as the template strand for leading-strand synthesis in one replication fork and as the template for lagging-strand synthesis in the other fork ” is true or false.

Introduction: During DNA replication, each of the original DNA strands serves as a template for the formation of an entire new strand. DNA polymerase synthesize DNA strand by adding deoxyribonucleotides on single strand DNA template. The localized region of the DNA where DNA replication begins is called replication fork. The replication fork is a Y-shaped structure which moves progressively along the parental DNA double helix.
