Chapter 49, Problem 7TYU
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

Hormones are the important class of molecules which play an important role in different metabolic pathways. Some of the hormone are lipid soluble and can easily enter the cell. The differences in the lipid solubility of hormones is crucial for the location of hormone receptors in a target cell. The steroid and thyroid hormones bind to intracellular receptors and the amino acid derivative hormone binds with the receptors present on thesurface of the plasma membrane. All the hormones are specialized in their capacity to initiate the response even when present in small amounts.
