Given information:

Distance rode in one hour $=6\text{ miles}$

Total time $=3.5\text{ hours}$ (one and half hours on Saturday and 2 hours on Sunday)

Concept Used:

Distributive Property: The product sum or difference of two or more numbers inside a parentheses with another number outside the parentheses is equivalent to the sum or difference of product of number outside the parentheses with each number inside the parenthesis. i.e.-

  $a\left(b+c-d\right)=ab+ac-ad$

Calculation:

  $3.5\text{ hours}\approx 4\text{ hours}$

Total distance travelled= $6•4=24\text{ miles}$

We can also solve it using distributive property.

We can write the time $3.5\text{ hours}$ as $3.00+0.50$

The expression for total distance travelledwill be given by-

  $6\left(3.00+0.50\right)$

We can write the given expression in distributive form as-

  $6\left(3.00+0.50\right)=6\left(3.00\right)+6\left(0.50\right)$

This can further be evaluated as-

  $\begin{array}{l}6\left(3.00\right)+6\left(0.50\right)=18+3\\ \Rightarrow 6\left(3.00\right)+6\left(0.50\right)=21\text{ miles}\end{array}$

Total distance travelledis $21\text{ miles}\approx 24\text{ miles}$
