To analyze:
When cross-1 is done between white mutant A and white mutant B, the resulting F1 progeny is wild type (Purple). Analyze the results obtained from self-fertilization between F1 progeny and determine phenotypic ratio and phenotypic distribution among F2 progeny.
Introduction:
The condition mentioned above can be answered with the help of complementation test. Complementation test is performed in such a situation as it helps us understand whether the mutation that has occurred is cis mutation (mutation in same gene) or trans mutation (mutation in different set of gene). Complementation occurs when the progeny with normal (wild type) phenotype is observed from crossing between two organisms with different homozygous recessive mutation. On the other hand, complementation is not observed when mutation is in the same gene.
Mendel's second law is the law of independent assortment. According to this law, when cross is done for more than one trait (two or more), the traits organize independently (selection of one trait is not dependent on another), so different

Genetic Analysis: An Integrated Approach (3rd Edition)
- In rice, male sterility is controlled by maternal cytoplasmic elements. This phenotype renders the male part of rice plants (i.e. the stamen) unable to produce fertile pollen; the female parts, however, remain receptive to pollination by pollen from male fertile rice plants. However, the presence of a nuclear fertility restorer gene F restores fertility to male-sterile lines. When these progeny were intercrossed, they produced an F2 consisting of 121 yellow, 9 black and 30 chocolate. What epistatic ratio and what kind of epistasis is approximated in the F2? Propose a biochemical pathway for coat color in Labrador retrievers based on the type of epistasis. Correlate each genotype with the phenotype that would occur in your pathway. - Draw a preliminary linkage map of the three loci. What is their order? (E.g. is the forked locus between yellow and cross-veinless, or outside this region?) As this is a preliminary linkage map - do not account for double crossovers.
