Summary Introduction

A special type of immune cells presents in the tissues is called dendritic cells. For example, in the skin, lymph nodes and spleen. Interdigitating dendritic, follicular dendritic cells and Langerhans cells are the three major subclasses of dendritic cells. It is highly specialized cells that programmed to identify and phagocytose foreign bodies, particularly pathogens. It also has several membrane-bound receptors including pattern recognition molecules.
