The process osmosis is the movement of water through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution to more concentrated solution. Due to this concentration difference, the pressure is exerted by water on a semipermeable membrane.
The compatible solutes are neutral molecule that are less toxic at their high concentration. They are organic molecules that help organisms to survive at extreme osmotic stress.
