Interpretation:

Whether the $pH$ go up or down when carbon dioxide dissolve in body fluid has to be determined and also whether this change indicate higher or lower acidity has to be given.

Concept introduction:

Body fluids are the fluids present in body which differ in composition to meet their functions. Blood, urine, milk, semen, cerebrospinal fluids, sweat, tear, lymph etc. are body fluids.

pH is a unit of measure which describes the degree of acidity or alkalinity of a solution.

pH of blood is maintained by,

• The excretion of carbon dioxide by the lungs
• The excretion of $H^{+}$ or $O{H}^{-}$ by the kidneys
• And by the action of buffer system in body

Interpretation:

It should be determined that what does a blood gas analysis measures.

Concept introduction:

Blood gas analysis is a test which measures the amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood, as well as the acidity (pH) of the blood.
