Concept Introduction: Steroid: Steroids are a type of organic compound having a molecular structure with four rings connected to each other. There are three types of steroids. They are mineralocorticoids, glucocorticoids and sex hormones. There are mainly three female sex hormones namely estrone, estradiol and progesterone. Estrone and estradiol are called estrogens which help in regulating menstrual cycle as well as developing the secondary sex characteristics in a female.
