Eddy currents are circulating currents in the magnetic materials. These occur when a conductor is placed in the influence of a changing magnetic field. Eddy current results in loss of power of the transformer.
As the transformer experiences loss of power in the form of thermal energy, the output power of cannot be equal to the input power because of the law of conservation of energy. As per this law, energy can neither be formed nor be destroyed. It can only be changed from one type to another.
