Chapter 25, Problem 14CYR
Summary Introduction
To review:
The blank space in the statement, “An increase in ventilation ___________the pH of the blood due to a/an ________of carbon dioxide in the blood. A decrease in ventilation _________the pH of blood due to a/an ___________of carbon dioxide in the blood”.
Introduction:
A condition in which a person breathes faster than the normal rate (ventilation increases) is known as hyperventilation. It results in low level of carbon dioxide in the blood. On the other hand, when there is a decrease in the breathing rate that leads to a decrease in the ventilation, the condition is known as hypoventilation.
