Concept explainers
To Explain: Wavelength for which coating is designed to transmit completely.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction: Light is a type of wave that carries energy through matter or space. A light ray is a narrow beam of light that travels in a straight line.
Some coated lenses appear into greenish yellow while seen by the reflected light. Certain lenses are designed to reject wavelengths at both, red & blue, ends of a spectrum. Also, the thickness of coating is structured to cause destructive interference for the reflected red light as well as blue light. So, reflected light then seems yellow-green.
Conclusion: The coating must be designed to transmit visible light’s remaining wavelengths.
