Concept explainers
To describe: The pattern observed by a person according to the given situation.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The verification of wave nature or wave theory of light was done by Young’s double slit experiment. Due to which the interference pattern consists of bright and dark fringes which are caused by the constructive and destructive interference pattern.
According to the given statement, when a person adjust his fingers a little closer, then he will observe a pattern of bright and dark bands which are aligned parallel to the fingers. Now, if a person adjust his fingers closer and closer, the dark bands will appear wider to his eyes. Hence, at one point, when fingers are about to meet, one can observe that the little gap left between the fingers will become dark.
Conclusion:
Thus, the pattern changes with the movement of the fingers.
