Chapter 23, Problem 3CYU
Summary Introduction
To review:
The type of carbohydrate catabolism that takes place inside erythrocytes, which lack mitochondria and other organelles.
Introduction:
Erythrocyte is a red blood cell present in the circulatory system of humans and other mammals. Erythrocytes are specialized cells that lack basic organelles, like nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, Golgi apparatus, and other structures; instead, they are modified to carry hemoglobin (Hb). Hb is a protein to which oxygen molecules get attached and transferred to all the parts of the body through blood.
