Introduction:

Heat exchange between the outside environment and skin acts in a manner similar to heat exchange between inanimate objects. Radiation, conduction/convection, and evaporation are some methods of heat loss. All body tissues generate heat; however, those most active metabolically generate a higher amount of heat. When the body is at rest, heat is produced by the heart, the brain, the liver, and the endocrine organs.
