The principal organic product of each of the given reactions of ammonia and amines with α, β- unsaturated carbonyl compounds is to be predicted.

Concept introduction:

The α, β- unsaturated carbonyl compound has double bond at α, β position with respect to the carbonyl group.

In conjugate addition of carbonyl compound, the nucleophile attacks the β carbon of C=C by forming enolate ion intermediate, which is then converted to ketone in the reaction condition and gives the β substituted product.
