Answer to Problem 20Q

Arrange two flat circular coils in parallel so that their mutual inductance will be greatest.

Explanation of Solution

Introduction: When two coils are placed near each other, the magnetic field in one of the coils is just linked with another coil. The whole process leads to the generation of voltage in the second coil. When a coil affects or changes the current and voltage in a secondary coil this is a special type of property that is called as mutual inductance.

Mutual inductance is important operating system of coils which applies to the generators, motors, and transformers. When two flat circular coils are arranged where both have the same axis then the mutual induction would be greatest.

Conclusion: Circular coils are arranged with same axis for having the maximum induction.

(b)

To determine

To Explain: The arrangement of circular coil for the lowest mutual induction.

Answer to Problem 20Q

Arrange two flat circular coils in perpendicular so that their mutual inductance will be lowest.

When two flat circular coils are arranged where both have the perpendicular axis then the mutual induction would be lower.

Conclusion: Circular coils are arranged with perpendicular arrangement having the minimum induction.
