Introduction: Valency of an atom is the number of free electrons available in the atom to make bonds with other atoms to attain a stable octet configuration. Octet configuration is the thumb rule in chemistry where atoms share or donate or receive electrons from another atom to attain the noble gas configuration of Neon in order to achieve a stable structure. Most common elements present in living organisms are carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, sulfur, and phosphorus.
