What are some sources of omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids?
Concept introduction:
A fatty acid is an individually the main constituents of a triglyceride, a type of lipid that is utilized by the body to energy storage. A lipid is simply a kind of molecule which incorporates, amid other things, fatty acids. Triglycerides are secondary source of energy that the body can utilized in the incident that there is not sufficient sugar inside the system. As fatty acids differ in conditions of chemical characteristics, they all contain some common basic qualities.
Omega−3 fatty acids come under PUFAs (polyunsaturated fatty acids) which contain C=C double bond on the third carbon atom and also recognized as ω−3 fatty acids as well.
Omega-6 is a kind of fatty acids which comes under the group of polyunsaturated fatty acids. If we will do the counting from the methyl end, it contains C=C double bond at the sixth position.
