Carbohydrates are polyhydroxy
If two same or difference monosaccharides combined together, disaccharides are formed. The disaccharides can be differentiated by type of monosaccharides they are made up of and the type of linkage. The bond between two monosaccharide is known as glycosidic bond. Disaccharides are also known as double sugar. They are made up of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. They can be aldoses or ketoses depending upon the presence of aldehyde and ketone group.
