To determine: The policy recommendations that should be made in concern with the technology of preimplantation genetic diagnosis.
Introduction: A new technique has been developed that promises to predict IQ accurately based on a particular combination of genetic markers. This technique can be applied to preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). Parents would be able to select an embryo free of genetic disorder and one with the smarter brain with the aid of this technology.
To determine: Whether parents should have the right to choose any characteristic of the children, or PGD should only be limited to ensure that embryos are free of genetic disorders.
