Concept Introduction:

The acidity strength is quantified by the magnitude of a parameter called pH. The strong acids tend to lower values of pH. This is since pH represents the negative logarithm of the concentration of H+ ion. So higher the concentration of H+ ion lower will be pH.

The expression to evaluate pH is as follows:

  pH=log[H+]

Here,

[H+] denotes concentration of H+ ions.

The dilution formula is given as follows:

  M1V1=M2V2

Here,

M1 denotes molarity of  initial solution before dilution.

V1 denotes the volume before dilution.

M2 denotes molarity of final solution after dilution.

V2 denotes volume after dilution.
