Concept explainers
To Explain:Pendulum is an example of periodic motion.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
A simple pendulum comprises of an object which has relatively more mass, hung by a string from a firm support. Pendulum hangs vertically in equilibrium position. The motion of the pendulum is regular as well as repeating.
Periodic motion is that motion which is repeated in equivalent intervals of time. Periodic motion are performed by:A vibrating fork, a bouncing ball, spring oscillation, swing in motion of a simple pendulum and uniform circular motion, water wave, the Earth in the orbit around the Sunetc,
The interval of time for the repetition, or cycle ofthe motion is known as period.
Conclusion:
The pendulum swings back and forth, following the same path each cycle and requiring the same amount of time to complete each cycle.
