Concept explainers
The periodic motion with examples.
Answer to Problem 36A
Periodic motion is defined as the motion which repeats itself after a regular interval of time. Examples of periodic motion of spring are oscillation of spring, swinging of a simple pendulum, and movement of earth around Sun.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Any motion which repeats itself after a certain period of time is called a Periodic motion.
The time in which the object comes back to its original position is called the time period of the periodic motion. The unit for the time period is recorded in seconds. Frequency is the number of cycles completed per second.
Periodic motion is the motion that repeats itself after a regular period of time. It can be explained by taking simple examples like rocking the chair or a bouncing ball which repeats itself after a fixed time. Here, the interval of time for a given cycle of the motion is called time period.
Examples for periodic motion are: movement of planets around Sun or movement of moon around earth around, pendulum; these all are examples of periodic motion
Conclusion:
The motion which repeats itself after certain interval time is called a periodic motion. The examples for periodic motion are pendulum, pendulum clock and motion of planets around Sun.
