The various components of acquired immunity are to be discussed.

Concept introduction:

The acquired immunity, also called the adaptive or specific immunity, is a part of the immune system. It is made up of highly specialized cells that prevent the growth of pathogens or eradicate them.

It develops an immunological memory subsequent to a primary response to a particular infection and causes a superior reaction to future encounters with the same pathogen. Acquired immunity includes both the humoral and cell-mediated immunity.
