Summary Introduction
Dissimilative iron-oxidizers are distributed in many habitats. These bacteria are chemolithotrophs that oxidizes ferrous ion to ferric ion. In other words, these bacteria conserve energy from the oxidation (aerobic) of ferrous ion. The iron oxidizers can be classified into four groups that are anaerobic chemotrophs, aerobic acidophiles, aerobic neutrophils and anaerobic phototrophs.
