Introduction:

Glycolysis is a series of reactions catalyzed by enzymes which produces two molecules of pyruvate along with free energy which is conserved in the form of NADH and ATP. The glycolytic breakdown of glucose is the only source of energy in some mammalian cells and tissue such as renal medulla, brain, erythrocytes and sperm. Some plant tissues modify themselves to store starch and derive most of the energy from glycolysis.
