Interpretation Introduction

(a)

Interpretation:

The IUPAC name for the following alkyne should be determined:

  GENERAL,ORGANIC, & BIOLOGICAL CHEM-ACCES, Chapter 13.2, Problem 13.3P , additional homework tip 1

Concept Introduction:

Alkynes are named in the same way as alkanes, but the alkynes are identified by the suffix −yne, replaced instead of the ending of the name of the parent alkane. The longest carbon chain should be numbered in a way that gives the triple bond the lower number. Then the compound should be named using the first number assigned to the triple bond. The names of the substituents should be written first in the alphabetic order with their position on the chain.

Interpretation Introduction

3) Determine if the pairs are constitutional isomers, enantiomers, diastereomers, or mesocompounds. (4 points)
In the decomposition reaction in solution B → C, only species C absorbs UV radiation, but neither B nor the solvent absorbs. If we call At the absorbance measured at any time, A0 the absorbance at the beginning of the reaction, and A∞ the absorbance at the end of the reaction, which of the expressions is valid? We assume that Beer's law is fulfilled.
