Question
Chapter 13, Problem 3CHQ
Interpretation Introduction
Interpretation: To explain the observation if the sunscreens were rinsed off of the bags.
Concept Introduction: Sunscreens are commonly rated and labeled with a sun protection factor (SPF) which measures the fraction of the sun rays reaching the skin and causing sun burns. SPF 15 means that 1/15 of the burning radiation reaches the skin. As the UV light hits the sunscreened skin it gradually wears away the chemical blockers in the product. Hence reapplication of the sunscreen is necessary; also sweating a lot outside requires frequent application of the sunscreen. Dermatologists recommend reapplying the sun screen after every 2 hours.
