Summary Introduction

The tricarboxylic cycle (TCA) is an example of the amphibolic pathway, which can carry out both functions of catabolic and anabolic pathways. During the amphibolic pathway, the acetyl-CoA is broken down as oxaloacetate (catabolic process) and produces various precursor molecules that are used as building blocks of amino acid (anabolic process).
