Interpretation:
The importance of Dobson’s data to be confirmed by satellite photos needs to be explained.
Concept introduction:
The ozone layer is naturally formed by a reactive process in the stratosphere. It is important because it protects our Earth from UV rays.
Answer to Problem 7SSC
To determine levels of ozone, it is important for Dobson’s data to be confirmed by satellite photos.
Explanation of Solution
A deepest zone in the stratosphere, surrounding the Earth which has massive measures of ozone (gas) in it is described as the ozone layer. It is approximately 10 km above from the Earth’s surface. Ozone layer is naturally formed (or produced) in the stratosphere. This layer is also defined as ring of protective gases.
The most essential measure used in the research of ozone is a Dobson unit. One DU (or Dobson Unit) is described to be 0.01 mm thickness (physical) at standard temperature and pressure (or STP).
It is important for Dobson’s data to be confirmed by satellite photos because it represents that how large or how fast ozone was depleting from stratosphere.
Dobson Unit is a system to explain the measure of ozone.
