The reason due to which the melting point of a substance in which the solid molecules is denser than the liquid should increase with increasing pressure is to be discussed according to Le Chatelier’s principle. The general phase diagram for such a substance is to be sketched.
Concept Introduction:
The phase diagram is a graphical representation of the phases of a molecule.
It is plotted in between temperature and pressure.
Le Chatelier’s principle states that if a system is in equilibrium and a change in its concentration, inert gas, volume, temperature, or pressure occurs, then this equilibrium is shifted to account for the change that has occurred.
