Introduction:

The chromosome is a thread-like structure in which the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) ispacked in the nucleus. The human DNA has a size of 3 billion base pairs. To fit the DNA in the nucleus, a high level of packaging is required. The histones are a family of basic proteins that are associatedwith DNA in the nucleus. The histone proteins are of 5 types- H1, H2A, H2B, H3, and H4. They help in the condensation of DNAinto chromatin. During cell division, the threads of chromatin are coiled together to form across-like structure known as chromosomes.
