Chapter 10, Problem 18ICA

You have a large stock of several values of inductors and capacitors, and you are investigating how many possible combinations of a single capacitor and a single inductor chosen from the ones you have in stock will give a resonant frequency between specified limits.

Create two cells to hold a minimum and maximum frequency the user can enter.

Chapter 10, Problem 18ICA, You have a large stock of several values of inductors and capacitors, and you are investigating how , example 1

Calculate the resonant frequency (fR) for all possible combinations of one inductor and one capacitor, rounded to the nearest integer. For a resonant inductor/capacitor circuit, the resonant frequency in hertz [Hz] is calculated by

f R = 1 2 π L C

In this equation, L is the inductance in units of henry [H] and C is the capacitance in units of farads [F]. Note that the capacitance values in the table are given in microfarads. Automatically format each result to indicate its relation to the following minimum and maximum frequency values.

  • f R > f MAX : The cell should be shaded white with light gray text and no border.
  • f R < f MIN : The cell should be shaded light gray with dark gray text and no border.
  • f MIN < f R < f MAX : The cell should be shaded white with bold black text and a black border.

If done properly, the table should appear similar to the table that follows for fMIN = 2500 and fMAX = 7777. After you have this working properly, modify the frequency input cells to use data validation to warn the user of an invalid value entry.
