The volume of water displaced can be determined by the density of the object.
If one takes into consideration the entire volume of the ship then, it can be concluded that the total volume of the ship doesn’t contain just iron but also the large volume of air. Hence, the density of the ship becomes less than the density of water. Hence, the ship doesn’t sink.
