They are mutual exclusive events because no person can be under 10 and over 55 at the same time,

required probability is-

There are total 60 patrons in the restaurant,

The required probability is,

  $\begin{array}{l}=\frac{11}{60}+\frac{14}{60}\\ =\frac{25}{60}\\ =\frac{5}{12}=0.42\end{array}$
