linked receptors and possible routes of communication (autocrine etc.). Should sh specific molecules involved, the mechanisms of signal transduction and indicate t different pathways that are activated. It should include a specific example of a rec ligand and signalling pathway for each general class. Include as wide a variety of and modes of action as you can. for a novel pathway. Cell signaling is the process by which signals from one cell are conveyed to other cells known as target cells. Each target cell has a unique receptor to which a ligand or signal binds and exerts its impact.
The process of cell signaling entails the conversion of one event into another. A sensory cell is exposed to an external signal that is transduced to produce a neurological signal, the action potential, in sensory transduction. This action potential can travel via cell membranes to quickly transmit the signal, the action potential, to distant regions of the sensory neuron.
The action potential is then transduced, causing neurotransmitters to be released at the synapse—the space between two neurons.
